Ministers in the Red and White Cabinet recently convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to address the plight of PT Sritex employees who were laid off. The main agenda of the meeting was Prabowo’s directive for ministers to formulate solutions for the affected workers. Attendees included Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo stressed the president’s deep concern for the workers and underscored the crucial need to resolve the challenges faced by PT Sritex post its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The primary objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a revamped working structure in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli lauded the curator’s dedication in ensuring that former Sritex employees have the opportunity to be rehired within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s unwavering commitment to extend support and guidance is poised to bring respite to PT Sritex employees impacted by the retrenchments. The Ministry of Manpower is actively advocating for the rights of PT Sritex Group workers, ensuring they receive due layoff compensation and other entitled rights. The PT Sritex Curator Team is actively engaged in the selection process of investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new framework, subsequently facilitating the reemployment of the displaced workers. This strategic initiative is geared towards providing stability to affected employees and offering a viable solution to their existing predicament.
