President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, commended Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for successfully mediating the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, resulting in a ceasefire. This commendation was conveyed during their bilateral meeting at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. President Prabowo praised Anwar’s leadership as the Chair of ASEAN and expressed gratitude for his mediation efforts. He also assured Indonesia’s support for Prime Minister Anwar in both his capacities as the Malaysian head of government and the Chair of ASEAN.
During the meeting, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of peaceful conflict resolution through consultation, negotiation, and mediation among ASEAN nations. He highlighted the significance of mediation in Southeast Asia, given the shared cultural and historical ties among countries in the region. The President reiterated the need for nations to work towards consensus in resolving issues and fostering peace.
Accompanying President Prabowo in welcoming Prime Minister Anwar were key members of the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono. The meeting underscored the commitment of both Indonesia and Malaysia to promoting peace and cooperation within ASEAN.
