On July 30, 2025, emotions filled the room in Serdang Bedagai as Aslina shared her inspiring transformation story. Working at the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Cempedak Lobang, Sei Rampah, just a stone’s throw away from her home, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the program that completely changed her life. Standing alongside notable regional leaders like Hasan Nasbi and North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, Aslina tearfully thanked the President for the profound impact the program had on her daily life.
Prior to joining the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, Aslina was a dedicated homemaker with no source of income, while her husband worked as a laborer with limited earnings. However, now she plays a vital role in preparing nutritious meals for school children in her community, bringing renewed hope into her life. Another participant, Normawati, also emphasized the importance of earning extra income close to home to support her family, especially her children benefiting from the MBG program’s nourishing meals.
The positive impact of the program goes beyond empowering housewives, as evident in the story of 21-year-old Shinta Ramadana. Unemployed before, she now works in food preparation with immense enthusiasm, embodying the empowerment spirit cultivated by the MBG Program. Aside from providing nutritious meals, the MBG Program signifies empowerment and transformation. It has transformed kitchens into spaces of hope, where individuals like Aslina, Norma, and Shinta have discovered opportunities for meaningful work and personal growth.
