Prabowo Acknowledges Kwik Kian Gie’s Wisdom

President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited Sentosa Funeral Home at RSPAD Gatot Subroto in Central Jakarta to pay his final respects to the late Kwik Kian Gie, a prominent economist and respected national statesman. Upon arriving at the funeral home, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by the late Kwik Kian Gie’s relatives and family members before making his way to the chamber where the deceased was laid to rest. With deep respect and solemnity, Prabowo honored Kwik Kian Gie, acknowledging his significant contributions as an advocate of Pancasila-based economics throughout his lifetime. Kwik, an influential economist and political figure, passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025, at 10:00 PM (WIB). President Prabowo expressed his admiration for Kwik, stating that he was not only an economist but also a friend and mentor who provided valuable insights into the nation’s development trajectory. Reflecting on their personal relationship, Prabowo emphasized the genuine bond they shared, with Kwik offering advice and thoughtful perspectives over the years. Even in his final days, Kwik remained actively engaged, sending messages and recommendations to the President. Prabowo acknowledged Kwik’s ongoing commitment and described him as an exceptional individual who continuously provided guidance. Indonesia has lost one of its greatest sons, and President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the wisdom and contributions of the late Kwik Kian Gie.
