Bentley’s iconic W-12 engine is heading to the scrapyard in the sky after over 20 years of production and more than 100,000 12-cylinder vehicles. However, it won’t go out with a whimper. During Monterey Car Week, Bentley introduced the new Bacalar Convertible by Mulliner. This new Bacalar is a more stylish version of the already beautiful and powerful car. Packing the ubiquitous W-12 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged Bentley engine, the Bacalar Convertible by Mulliner produces 740 horsepower – the same amount as the standard convertible and coupe models. This time, however, the 740 horses are paired with a unique design created in collaboration with one of Bentley’s clients. The exterior of the Bacalar Convertible features Opalite paint with Beluga and Mandarin accents, including a racing stripe down the middle with two smaller accent stripes on either side. The interior showcases a ‘one plus one’ design with Beluga black leather and Alcantara on the driver’s side, and Linen white with Alcantara on the passenger side. The rear luggage compartment features similar Beluga black and Mandarin orange accents, complete with a specially-designed two-part luggage set for this vehicle. Just like the seats, the luggage also uses the Beluga black and Linen white colors – one for the driver, one for the passenger. The Bacalar Convertible by Mulliner will make its debut next week in California during Monterey Car Week. Of course, Bentley has not disclosed a price tag for its newest Bacalar, which is described as “truly one-off.” Nevertheless, the Bacalar Convertible is likely one of the last Bentleys ever produced with the iconic 12-cylinder engine from the manufacturer. For that reason alone, we believe it is already quite valuable.
